About Parry Sound Community Radio Association
Parry Sound Community Radio Association was federally incorporated as a not-for-profit organization on May 24, 2023. The seven-member board will form the Charter Board Members as the organization endeavours to compile an application for a Community Radio station to serve the West Parry Sound District. Within the near future the Board will meet to compile its bylaws and vote on an executive. Our incorporation was registered and approved by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (formerly Industry Canada). See the public record of our incorporation by clicking here.
Our goal is to submit a completed application for a broadcast licence to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) by the end of 2024. Community radio exists under the auspices of a not-for-profit organization where membership, management and operation are provided by members of the community at large. We will endeavour to provide professional training to volunteers as we strive to present a very professional sounding style of broadcast radio. While such a project can not be attempted without volunteers, a small modest payroll will sustain the day-to-day operation, working in management and some anchor programming. One of our huge objectives will be to cover ALL local news, consistently and thoroughly throughout the weekdays and weekends.
Parry Sound Community Radio Association has received levels of support from our Federal and Provincial Members of Parliament, local municipalities, business operators, service clubs and organizations. PSCRA will continue to seek such support as well as from the public at large. This website will keep readers up to date on our progress!
